This film was prompted by the question of how one can transport words into images. An exploration of visualizing a poem and taking literal words to form a symbolic meaning. I used a poem I wrote as the architecture behind this final project. The title of this poem, as well as the title of the film, is “Entre Peceras y Campanas de Cristal” or “In Between Fishbowls and Bell Jars”. The concept behind the poem, which was later conceptualized into my film, was how we seek comfort in uncomfortable spaces created by our psyches. Even though you are lost in your own world, you are still being watched and perceived, which is the most disturbing aspect of losing yourself. You see from the inside view of the water or in between the glass lens meticulously crafted illusions of what you trust are real. The idea of escaping the lens is extremely terrifying.
It’s like dying within that alluring version and being reborn into a new world with new people.
